90th Anniversary - January 2015

Early next year we will be celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the founding of the Company.

I am currently having discussions with our youngest Officer (Robbie) and an Officer from the Anchor Section (Stewart) to start making preparations for an Anniversary Weekend event probably in February next year. (20th & 21st TBC).

It would be the intention to invite past members of the Company - both Boys and Officers to come along to this event.

We have not sorted out everything yet, and we have not quite set all the dates in place but I am in the process of hopefully securing a venue for a celebration meal.

One of the things we did the last time for the 75th in 200 was design a badge.

I have had a thought about this and I have put together an idea which I am currently getting priced up. This badge will be for every current Boy and member of Staff plus all the ex-members who attend the event.

Quick preview below - still needs to be tweaked a bit and sorted out but getting there.

So If you know somebody who was either a Boy or Officer in The Company from it's founding in 1925 right through to now, get them to get in contact with us either or a Tuesday night or Friday, via an email or through this blog page.

Hey you never know we might even go onto Facebook and/or twitter.

We look forward to hearing from you all.

Annual DIsplay & Parents Evening - 9th MAY 7pm

Our end of session Annual Parents evening & presentation of awards will take place in just over two weeks time.
It has been another very quick year.

The Display starts at 7pm sharp with all the members of the Company being present on the night. Anchor, Junior & Company Sections.

You are all invited to come along parents and family and friends to see what the Boys have done over the session and to see who gets the awards.

Junior Section 25th April 2014

Just to remind you all that Junior Section resumes after the Easter break on Friday next, 25th April.  Hopefully we will have a bit of time to hear about the boys holiday adventures before we plunge into further preparations for the Display on May 9th. Only two more weeks to whip things into shape!

On Sunday 27th April the Battalion is holding its Quarterdeck Service for Junior Sections at Hamilton Baptist Church in Kemp Street. For this service we would meet at Cadzow at 2.25pm to walk round and be in place for the start at 3pm. Could you please let Carolyn Nicolson know whether or not your son is able to attend by email, text or phone as soon as possible please?

Thank you, the JS Officers.

Friday 25th January 2013 - Burns Night. @ Company Section

Tomorrow don't have a big dinner before you come out to BB.
You are doing your Indoor Cooking section of your skills badge tomorrow night.
This involves you preparing / cooking a 3/4 course meal for you all to sit down and eat.
Being the 25th of January I thought that it would be a good idea to have a Burns Night, so you are going to cook a typical Burns Supper menu.

Cock a Leekie soup (Tinned by Baxters)
Haggis, neeps and Tatties.(Tinned by Grants, neeps pre chooped to be boiled and Tatiies to be peeled and boiled).
Clouty dumpling (made by Linda)
Biscuits & Cheese
Washed down with loads of Irn Bru (made by Barrs watched by Alan)

The idea is come down at the normal time - for 6.30. You will all be assigned a task, preparing or cooking food, setting up the tables and chairs in the Session House, setting the table etc.
By the end of the Junior Section at 7.45 everything should be prepared and ready to eat.
The guests (you) will be piped into the Session House
The guests will be welcome and Grace will be said. The soup course will be served.
This will be followed by the Address to a Haggis
and Toast to the Haggis before the main course is served.
The dessert of warm clouty dumpling will be served.
Followed by biscuit and cheese.
A Toast will be made to the Queen.
No toast or response will be given to or replied to by the Lassies since none will be present.
Before some Burns poetry is recited and finally The Immortal Memory will be given (a spell binding oratoration on the life of Burns.

Then unfortunately you will all have to help with the dishes before we finish at 9 pm, it might just run over a wee bit tomorrow night

Smartie Tubes

Anchor, Junior & Company Section Boys were all given a tube of Smarties this week.

The usual rules apply:
Eat the sweeties. remember to share them!

Save the tube and then refill it over the next few months with 20p pieces.

If you do this right, when you bring it back in February/March next year there will
be about £12.00 in the tube.

Have fun enjoy the Smarties and remember to bring them back full of 20ps next year.
